Hailey Jane: 18 Months

 January 25, 2022

Sweet Hailey I can’t believe you are already a year and a half, with the holidays it really snuck up on me. You have had a crazy 6 months since I posted about your first birthday. You started taking steps for the first time on September 30th!! On October 11th you fell off our couch while I was putting your coat on you and little did I know you had fractured your tibia and your fibula was at a right angle. I didn’t know for 3 whole days! You tough baby!! You had to get a cast and you wore that until November 15th, the doctor said it was still bent but once you started to walk on it that would help it heal. I am happy to report that one week later you were walking all by yourself and haven’t seemed to have any issues! Yay!!

You continue to be our tiny girl, you don’t have a doctors appointment until the end of February so I don’t know your current height and weight but in comparison to other kids your age you’re just so cute and petite. You love music and will shake your little booty and slowly head bang to music. It’s hilarious and cute all at the same time! You have started to like books a little more recently, before this you didn’t seem to like sitting through the whole book before wanting something else. But now you’ll bring us books  and sit while we read them. Your love to talk in your own way, you say some words like momma, dad, nana(banana), wow, ball and the other day I heard you shh your baby doll while playing.

Your sister continues to be your best friend, you are constantly giving her loves whenever you see her, I just love the special bond you two have! You are wearing mostly size 18 month clothes some 12 month here and there, you are in size 4 diapers and you take one long nap in the afternoons. Once again happy to report that your beautiful red hair is staying!!! I love it!! We still get stopped all the time to ask about your hair and who it comes from, you get lots of attention. You don’t seem to mind because you wave to those who stop is to talk to us haha. Mommy got put in as primary President before Christmas so that means you got to start going to nursery sooner than the end of this month. You did good your first day (January 2nd) until daddy came to pick you up then you got really sad! Sadly because of the virus and other sicknesses our stake has only been doing sacrament meeting no second hour classes so you haven’t been in 2 weeks. I am hoping we go back soon!!

We sure love you sweet girl, thanks for joining our family we couldn’t imagine our family without you! Love you!

2021 Year In Review

 January-

Well, I started 2021 off with COVID so yeah that’s fun! But before that hit we celebrated the New Year with my family. We usually always get together after Christmas since my dad has a crazy work schedule, which works out because then we don’t all have to worry about sharing holidays with in laws. We frosted my moms famous sugar cookies, ate lots of yummy food and played tons of games!

Hailey turned 6 months and I did a fun half birthday photo shoot with her, she is such a little sweetheart!

Lexi and I went to her class field trip at our local children’s museum and she had so much fun we bought us a pass for the year to come and play whenever!

February-

Lexi turned 4 years old this month! She is really into Toy Story so I decorated our designated birthday shelf with all her favorite characters. She gots new bike and  a birthday party with some friends at Geronimos. It was a great day!

We celebrated Valentine’s Day at home and at the end of the month Justin, Hailey and I took a trip to St. George with some friends. (We only took Hailey because I was nursing)

March-

I don’t really celebrate St. Patrick’s day too much, but I bought some lucky charms which Lexi is always excited about. We took some trips to the park and lots of walks to enjoy sunshine and early spring.  We spent Spring break here at home but we made the most of it with some of our friends who also stayed local. We went swimming, to a place in our mall with bounce houses and some other local activities. And Lexi started swim lessons at our rec center this month.

April-

Easter fell on the same weekend as our church’s General Conference so we invited Emily, Logan and Brady to come visit us so we could celebrate both Easter and their recent birthdays. We had such a fun weekend with them, we went to a local arcade place to play laser tag, went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and had way too many treats and sweets! I love making memories with family! Aunt Emi even gave Lexi a little hair cut that weekend too! So lucky to have another cosmetologist in the family!

May-

We celebrated Cinco De Mayo as a family with tacos and fun decorations. Hailey really loved the maracas and streamers, she didn’t know what to think about the fake mustaches haha. Lexi had her final field trip for the school year, they did a field day at our local park. She continued her swim lessons this month and is rocking it! We celebrated Mother’s Day as a family and Justin and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary. We took Lexi to her first monster truck show here in town.

Lexi had her final day of her first year in preschool on May20th, she has learned and grown so much! Our oldest nephew Kaden graduated high school on the 25th, I can’t believe he’s already 18 so crazy! We ended the month with Memorial Day and went to visit Justin’s grandparents graveside, this was the first year without grandma Ruth it was sad but great to gather as a family to honor her. Bring on Summer!

June-

Summer started off with a busy month in June. We hit splash pads, the pool, had an Almond Family reunion in Island park and a trip to the zoo as a little family.

July-

We started this month off celebrating the Fourth of July! We went to our city parade with some good friends, a family barbecue at Justin’s uncles and Lexi and Justin ended the night doing fireworks with his family and watching the firework show our city does. (Hailey went home to bed)

Lexi gave her first primary talk ever this month  and it was so cute! My sister and her husband came for a visit and we spent time at the water park and enjoying their company.

Hailey turned ONE this month, I knew I wanted to do a One in a Melon party as soon as I heard she was a girl and her birthday was during the summer. I found the cutest onesie with watermelons and used Pinterest as my guide for decorations, I found a pizza slice piƱata at Hobby Lobby and turned it into the cutest watermelon. I made her first birthday cake and it actually turned out very cute!

August-
We started the month off right with a Pope family reunion in Utah. We went to a children’s museum in salt lake with my parents, Splash Summit water park and Big bear park with my entire family. We also hosted a little baby shower for my sister in law Carla.

We spent the rest of the month soaking up all the sun and fun with friends before school started. We took a trip to the zoo, an animal petting zoo where Lexi fed a goat she was so brave and Lexi began her first tumbling class at the end of the month.

September-

Lexi started her last year of preschool this month and surprise I got asked to be their classes teacher assistant. So I get a front row seat to her learning experience!

Lexi started dance class and is so excited to do that and tumbling this year! We got our family pictures taken and celebrated my birthday in Utah. We went to the Hogle Zoo, IKEA and out to dinner with my siblings.

October-

We got to attend our Temples open house this month first with Justin’s family and then with mine later this month. We had our annual Halloween kick off and this year we started by decorating a Halloween house with candy, the girls got a visit from Spooky Ooky spider and he left them some pajamas. Hailey started taking some steps this month but later fell and fractured her tibia and bent her fibula at a right angle. Poor baby had to get a cast.  :(  Before that we took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, had a snow day and Justin’s cousin Jared got married.

Our October was crazy busy with family, pumpkin patch field trip for preschool, Lexi’s first primary program, and tons of Halloween parties it was a blast! Lexi was Minnie Mouse, Hailey was Figero the cat and I was Daisy Duck. We also had a spooky dinner which was fun to decorate for!

November-
Hailey got her cast removed on the 15th yay!! She started officially walking one week later on Justin’s birthday! Happy birthday babe ;). We celebrated our favorite guy with cinnamon rolls and dinner out just he and I.

Lexi’s class had a thanksgiving feast at school, it’s been so fun to be at all the parties this school year so far. During Thanksgiving break the girls and I went to our roller rink and had a blast during toddler time, Lexi tried roller skates for her first time, she did pretty good!

Thanksgiving day was at Justin’s parents house, the next day we went to a movie and that night our little family may have started a new tradition, we went to our towns light parade and it was so fun! We also went bowling and had Chick Fil-A for dinner.

December-

What a month packed full of fun! We started our month off with a Christmas kick off, I gave the girls their Christmas pajamas, we decorated a ginger bread house and sang to Christmas music while decorating. Lexi wrote her letter to Santa  asking for the PJ mask toys and their vehicles.

We gave Lexi one of her Christmas gifts early this year and took her to the polar express in Heber City, my siblings were able to join us and it was so cute and fun! When Lexi saw Santa it was so magical, the real Santa was so cute! Lexi’s class had a pajama day, Christmas program and Lexi had a dance Christmas recital too.

We visited Santa’s helper at cabelas again this year, frosted sugar cookies, and hosted our first Christmas Eve at our home in our finished basement!! Merry Christmas to Justin and I. A huge thank you to our family and friends who helped make this a reality this year! For Christmas Eve we smoked a brisket, had riblets and tons of yummy sides and desserts. We played minute to win it games, had a white elephant gift exchange and our annual piƱata made by my talented mother in law. This year her inspiration came from the tv show The Masked Singer!

Christmas morning was so magical, Lexi was pleased that Santa got her the pj masks and their vehicles. Hailey giggled with joy at her new fisher price farm set and we just enjoyed being with family! We rang in the New Year with my family for our Pope family Christmas. We had our Smorgasburg for dinner, I made a little count down to Lexi’s bed time for her to ring in the  new year. We played a candy cane game where you knock each other’s candy canes off their finger, had a glow in the dark dance party and played games!

What a great year, here’s to 2022!!
