Hailey Jane: One Year!

ONE YEAR! How in the world are you already a whole year old? As cliche as this sounds it feels just like yesterday that I was in labor with you. What a year for our family, we moved into a new house, new ward and survived a world wide pandemic. You’re for sure the best thing that happened over 2020.

 This month we celebrated your first 4th of July and grandma, your cousin Dillon and aunt Hillary’s birthdays. Both February and July are crazy birthday months for our family. 

Over the fourth we went to our towns parade and had a family BBQ at uncle Dan’s house. Since you were so little I didn’t keep you up for fireworks but your dad and Lexi watched them with his family, I can’t wait to take you next year! 

We have been having such a fun summer with family visits, cousin time, swimming pool trips and the free lunches at the park! 

For your birthday I decided to go with the theme “One in a Melon.” And it turned out just as cute as I hoped it would! The best part was I made my very first smash cake and it wasn’t a complete failure! (Wahoo) We had a big family BBQ with your grandpa and grandma Almond, aunt Hillary and uncle Matt’s family and some of our extended family on dads side.  I made a fun watermelon piñata for the kids and we ate yummy food! 

To say you loved your cake is an understatement, haha! Your feet were kicking the whole time and you kept taking fist fulls of it as fast as you could! I was so happy with how your big day turned out!  

We had your one year check up the day after your birthday and your doctor was very happy with your growth and development! You weigh 18 pounds and are a little over 27 inches. You’re finally able to crawl off your belly, but you still army crawl here and there. You’ve learned how to sit up and pull yourself up to things, with that have come a few bumps but overall you’re pretty cautious. Whenever I am loading the dishwasher you love to come “help” haha. You love playing with Lexi and if she is in her room you crawl as fast as you can to join in on her fun! You love to talk and we love hearing you and Lexi play! 

You still wear size 3 diapers and I have moved you to 12 month clothes, occasionally you wear some 9 month outfits but mostly 12 month. We had to lower your crib since you like to stand up more and more now! 

Hailey Jane you’re such a joy we love having you in our family! We still get so much attention when we’re out but you and Lexi are two little cuties so I don’t blame them for their attention! Happy Birthday sweet girl! 

Hailey Jane: 11 Months

Hailey Jane, it’s so hard to believe that you’re eleven months already! They say time is a thief and man they aren’t lying, these months just seem to keep flying by. 

What a fun beginning to summer we’ve had! Where we live the schools offer free lunches for kids at a few local parks, so naturally I have been taking you and Lexi practically every day. It’s a good way to get some of your sisters energy out and for all of us to get outdoors to see and play with some friends each day, so it’s a win win! 

We’ve been to our local splash pad here a handful of times, went to the zoo with your dad, did half price family night at our local pool and have had so many BBQ’s I’ve lost count! We celebrated your daddy this month for Fathers Day and had our Almond family reunion in Island Park. You rode on a boat for the first time but the life jacket was definitely not a favorite of yours! Haha 

You are still our petite little girl still wearing size 3 diapers 9 month and a few 12 month clothes but we aren’t sure what you weigh right now. I know you’re gaining because you’re getting heavier to hold ha! You still get A LOT of attention wherever we go, it’s that darn cute red hair and toothy grin that gets them every time! You have 2 bottom teeth 1 top tooth and are working on cutting the second top tooth. You still love your solids, I joke with family and friends that I could stop nursing and you wouldn’t care…which is probably more true than I think. You’ve been loving the food at the lunch at the parks mostly PB&J’s but you’ve also tried the chicken sandwich, double cheeseburger and nuggets there and have seemed to enjoy those. 

You’re still army crawling, but after our family reunion I have seen you get up on your knees and rock back and forth a few times so we’re getting there. I bet you’ll be full on crawling here in the next week or so. You still sleep 2 naps a day and all night which is AMAZING!! You’ve become more vocal with some growls, more babble and you’ve said mum a few times so I’ll take it. But mostly you say dada and laugh when we try to get you to repeat “mom.” You’ve also started to wave occasionally and it’s pretty darn cute as well! 

We sure love you Hailey bug, you’re such a sweet addition to our little family and I am so grateful I get to be your mom! 

Hailey Jane: 10 Months

Sweet Hailey I can’t believe we’re two months away from you being ONE! We sure love our smiley blue eyed red head! You get a lot of attention wherever we go and people always ask us where the hair comes from.  

This month has brought on new things, you are now army crawling/rolling to get where you want to go. Sometimes you will start on your knees bit for the most part you pull yourself with your arms and kick your feet. It is pretty stinking cute! You still just have your two bottom teeth but I think you’re working on getting the top ones. 

You LOVE food and just like big sister you make it known with your sounds while eating. It’s secretly my favorite thing. This month you have loved trying PB&J sandwiches, quesadillas, fruit cups, cheese sticks and popsicles! You have also mastered drinking from your sippy cup without my assistance, it’s also so dang cute! You tip your whole head back and drink, haha! 

We are so excited to spend your first summer in our finished backyard!! I have so many fun things I can’t wait to do and of course I’ve already got your first birthday pretty much fully planned! (I plan way in advance but I love it) Let the summer fun begin! (Once we get warmer weather of course)

Lexi Anne: Last Day of Preschool

Lexi girl, I can’t believe this school year is over for you! You have learned and grown so much in this year! You can recognize your letters and only mix up a few here and there. You know how to spell and write your first name and you have made so many cute new friends I can’t wait to see what this next year brings for you this fall! 

Today your dad and I attended your closing program and it was so cute. Mrs. Karissa taught you all some fun songs and you knew them all! You are quite the little performer and a cute one at that! Mrs. Karissa also wrote in your memory book that “you’re darling, and a joy to be around!” Of course I am biased but she is right! You’re such a sweetheart and we couldn’t be more proud of the beautiful girl you are, inside and out! 

We sure love you little girl, keep learning and growing, always remember you can do hard things!

Hailey Jane: 9 Months

Hailey girl how can you already be nine months old? We sure have been enjoying watching you learn and grow daily, but I wish time would slow down a little! 

This month we celebrated your first Easter with aunt Emily, uncle Logan and uncle Brady! We had so much fun decorating eggs, celebrating birthdays for Emi, Logan and Brady and making memories as a family! We also got to watch general conference and make a yummy Easter ham dinner with everyone! 

Later this month we had grandma and grandpa Pope visit with Emily and Logan, I sure love having a bigger place to have more family gatherings! 

We had to put up our baby gate this month because you are rolling EVERYWHERE!! You haven’t shown much interest in crawling so you roll to get you to where you want to be. You cut your first two teeth this month and have the cutest little smile!! You’ve stopped having baby food solids and now will only eat table food, it’s your favorite! This month we tried mashed potatoes, grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese and a few pieces of avocado. 

You and Lexi both had your check ups this month and you weigh 15.5 lbs and are 26 inches. Still our tiny girls but overall the doctor thinks you are doing great!! We have you in nine month clothes and you’re still in size three diapers, if it’s possible I think your hair is getting more and more red each day!! We sure love you tiny girl!! 

Hailey Jane: 8 Months

Eight months Hailey girl, where has all the time been going? We have had a crazy month, you got your first ear infection which has messed with your mood, sleep and eating habits. But still we find you smiling and laughing at your favorite entertainment (Lexi). Your grandparents came for a visit from Utah, we enjoyed having them stay with us! It’s officially Spring here, we have had some nice warm days where we played out in the sun and we’ve had some cold rainy/snowy days too. 

Because of your ear infection/dr. visit we were able to weigh you and you weigh 15 lbs. 4oz. You’re wearing size 6-9 month clothing but we’re moving you more towards 9 months. Still in size 3 diapers and finally rolling all on your own!! You roll from back to belly and belly to back, the other day i saw you roll from one spot in the living room to closer to your sister haha. You now like to sleep on your belly at night and still wake up for one night feeding with 2 naps during the day. You’re “talking” more and more and love to say dadda!  Still no teeth but we still adore your gummy smiles!

Hailey Jane: 7 Months

Seven months baby girl, how? That is so crazy to me. I seriously have a love hate relationship with you growing up. While it’s hard knowing you won’t stay a baby forever, it’s so fun watching you learn and grow daily! 

We’ve been working more with you on tummy time, rolling and sitting up. You’re very close to being able to sit on your own, you like your high chair and bumbo but you do not like to sit up in shopping carts. Tummy time and rolling still aren’t your favorite but you can roll from belly to back and lately have been rocking from your back to one side, so slowly but surely we’ll get there. 

This month you went on your first road trip with mommy and daddy to Saint George Utah. We sadly didn’t get any pictures but you did pretty good both on the drive and sleeping in a new place. Daddy went golfing with some friends and the girls all went and did some shopping! 

You have become more and more aware of meal times, you’ve also started to eat more solids than last month. You like apple sauce, sweet potatoes, bananas, tiny orange pieces, sometimes carrots, peas and green beans. But I think the fruits are your favorites. I introduced you to baby snacks like yogurt melts and banana flavored puffs and you also seem to enjoy those too. 

We didn’t have any doctor appointments this month but you go in for a booster flu shot in March so we’ll check your weight then. You’re out of size 2 diapers and now wear 3’s. You’ve also grown out of 3-6 month clothes and are wearing 6-9 months and no longer use your sleep sack at night, such a big girl!
